Microbial genome research has been one of the most
rapidly evolving fields in
molecular life sciences with enormous social and economical impact e.g. in the fields of health care, biotechnology, and synthetic biology.
Modern techniques in microbial genome research require
cost-intensive state-of-the-art equipment as well as
highly-educated personnel. Within the
Norddeutsches Zentrum für Mikrobielle Genomforschung (NZMG) six
well-established research institutions from Northern Germany join their research infrastructure and know-how. Therefore, the NZMG provides all of the
tools of modern functional genomics and proteomics combined with in-depth
bioinformatics and
systems biology analysis for
scientific co-operations in Northern Germany and beyond.
